Program Description:
Explore Italy

2019 Tentative Dates: 9-22 January 2019

Program Overview:

Students will have an opportunity for a full immersion in matters Italian, past and present when, in thirteen days, they visit seven of the cities where the Italian experience was forged and reached its peak. By means of guided tours, professional lectures, museum visits and student presentations, the study course in Italy will present students with an opportunity to learn about and experience the important role Italy has played in the development of Western civilization. Students will mingle with the people in the streets and visit piazzas where Caesar, Augustus, Popes Innocent III and Julius II, Dante, Petrarch, Michelangelo, Bernini, Titian once trod. They will gain a rich exposure to the immense cultural accomplishments and living spirit of ancient, medieval and Renaissance Italy. The Italian achievement will be observed, analyzed and interpreted--first hand--from a cross-disciplinary viewpoint of history and art for a truly international experience.
